Caesar’s back | Poem

In shadows deep, a trust was torn in twain,

A friend turned foe, a bitter, dark refrain,

Betrayed by one I thought was true and just,

In silence, lies and treachery did trust.

.

But deeper wounds within, a different strife,

I let myself down, traded truth for life,

In shadows of my conscience, shame’s embrace,

For self-betrayal, I must seek a trace.

.

A world awash with broken bonds and lies,

Humanity betrayed, we hear the cries,

In unity, we once had placed our dreams,

But now division tears apart our seams.

.

A heart once open, now in pieces, lay,

Betrayed, deceived, in darkness I now sway,

In love and trust, I placed my faith and heart,

Now wounded, scarred, my world falls all apart.
