  • The Grass is Greener | Poem

    January 4th, 2024

They say the grass is greener over there,
Where skies are bluer and rivers sing clear,
The hills all rolling emerald underfoot,
No dust to bite, no sun like molten lava so brute.
My heart aches with a wanderlust to roam,
To swap this parched plain for a garden to call my home.

But alas! That emerald promise may deceive,
Thick blades are tangled, slowed to a crawl so you must heave.
The songbird’s tune might turn a mournful cry,
And paradise a mirage when the well runs dry.
For discontent’s shadow is ever near,
Who can paint the fairest landscape dark and drear.

So saddle up, but steady in your stirrup-grip,
This journey’s long, a test of of your grit and lip.
The greener pastures lie beyond the crest,
But sweat and sorrow pave your quest.
For every path you take, there’s one left free,
The one that leads you back, a wiser you, back to me.

Instead of chasing ghosts across the line,
Let’s tend our patch where roots of comfort twine.
Water our worries, prune away the doubt,
Let laughter bloom and let courage blossom’s shout.
The grass is greenest where our heart holds sway,
So plant your dreams, and make your patch of earth play.

  • Slice of Heaven | Poem

    January 3rd, 2024

In realms of night, where shadows bloom,
She walks, a vision wrought of moon,
With eyes that hold the starlight’s gleam,
And lips that tempt a whispered dream.

Her gaze, a raven’s wing unfurled,
Entwines my soul, a captive world,
    Her voice, a siren’s lullaby,
Lures me to depths where spirits lie.

She wears a shroud of velvet black,
    Starlight kisses on her track,
And whispers secrets, dark and sweet,
Of forbidden fruits we dare to meet.

    Mortals touch can never claim
This angel forged in a phantoms flame,
    She’s but a glimpse, a stolen breath,
A slice of Heaven kissed by death.

  • Real Men Cry | Poem

    January 2nd, 2024

In the open air, honesty flows
Where real men, unbridled, let their tears compose
    Amid the vastness emotion grows
Their tears, like rivers, sweept through valleys and throes

Under the sun’s gaze, in the noon’s bright light
Real men weep, an unashamed sight
Each tear a testament to strength’s own height
In the expansive fields of raw emotion’s might

    Oh, let tears be sung
Real men cry, their hymn forever young
In the vast expanse, where emotions are wrung
Tears, are part of the song, ever unsung

  • Resolution Woes | Poem

    January 1st, 2024

In the haze of resolutions made
A fresh start, a path newly laid
    Promises echo, intentions portrayed
Yet the road is treacherous, fraught and frayed

Gym memberships, a pledge to shed weight
A diet begun with the best of state
But as the days pass, the resolve abates
In the face of temptation, determination deflates

Financial goals, a budget to create
But expenses mount, a relentless freight
As wallets protest, and plans dissipate
The resolution crumbles, a deferred fate

Yet in the wreckage of resolutions, we find
A chance to reflect, the flaws of the mind
To learn from missteps, and pitfalls to unwind
In the journey ahead, new resolutions to bind

  • New Year’s Kiss | Poem

    December 31st, 2023

Beneath the stars, a hopeful sigh,
As the year bids its sweet goodbye,
A lingering wish in the twilight sky,
For a New Year’s Eve kiss, oh so high.

    Countdown begins, the clock’s embrace,
A yearning heart in a quiet space,
    Anticipation paints a hopeful trace,
For lips to meet in a tender grace.

    Confetti flutters, champagne in hand,
In the crowd, where dreams expand,
Eyes search for a connection unplanned,
    A chance encounter, love’s command.

    Midnight chimes, a crescendo nears,
    Hopes alight, dispelling fears,
Two souls drawn as the moment veers,
In the whispering night, love appears.

A kiss exchanged, a promise made,
In the magic of the serenade,
    New Year dawns, love’s cascade,
A memory cherished, in time’s charade.

    Sunset paints the shore,

  • Holiday Season | Poem Limerick

    December 29th, 2023

    In the year-end holiday craze,
    Families in festive arrays,
    With joy and with cheer,
    They gather each year,
    In merriment’s heartwarming haze.

  • Beachtime Bliss | Poem

    December 28th, 2023

Beneath the sun’s warm, golden kiss,
A sandy haven of tranquil bliss,
The rhythmic waves, a soothing hiss,
    Beachful serenity, life’s gentle abyss.

    Bronzed grains beneath bare feet,
    Seagulls dance, a coastal beat,
    Ocean whispers, a melody sweet,
    Beachful reverie, where worlds meet.

Tide-kissed shores in hues of blue,
Seashells tell tales, both old and new,
Footprints in the sand, a transient view,
    Beachful dreams, forever true.

In the glow of the setting sun,
A beachful day is nearly done,
    Colors blend, a horizon spun,
Eternal peace, in beachful bliss, won.

  • Festive Friction | Poem

    December 27th, 2023

    In holiday’s bustling embrace,
Family gathers, now a familiar face,
Yet, proximity breeds a subtle trace,
Nerves that fray, breaking the delicate space.

Around the table, where laughter once weaves,
    Closeness sometimes deceives,
    Tempers flare like autumn leaves,
A dance of discord, as tension cleaves.

Under twinkling lights and festive décor,
    Bickering whispers begin to soar,
    Quirks magnified, patience long wore,
Love endures, somewhere deep at the core.

In the midst of familial strife,
A reminder of the shared life,
Turbulent moments, like a fleeting strife,
Blend with love, a complex rife.

So, as relatives test our nerves,
In the holiday whirlwind that swerves,
Remember, in each bond that serves,
Within Family’s quirks is a love that preserves.

  • Hangover’s Feast

    December 26th, 2023

In the aftermath of festive cheer,
    A hangover of indulgence near,
Overeating’s heavy toll we now bear,
A banquet’s aftermath is made quite clear.

The stomach groans, a plaintive sound,
A feast so grand, now left us tightly bound,
    Leftovers linger on sides around,
A culinary joy, seemed so profound.

The excess echoes in each sigh,
    A sluggish, overstuffed reply,
    Overindulgence meets our eye,
In post-feast haze, we wonder ‘oh god’ why.

    Regret may linger, heavy-hearted,
In the aftermath, calories best left charted,
Yet, in the warmth that meals impart,
A taste of joy, not soon to depart.
