  • Life’s Debate | Poem

    December 7th, 2023

    Thoughts confused in life’s debate,
Where choices echo in determining fate.
To bear the weight of parenthood’s song,
Or in solitude let one’s echo belong.

    In Silence whispers reside,
    To deliberation, hearts must confide.
Sacrifice blooms in a parent’s embrace,
Yet isolation offers a different grace.

To forge a legacy or wander alone,
Life’s crossroads, a path yet unknown.
In the dance of decisions, yin and yang twine,
Between parenthood’s embrace and solitude’s sign.

  • Pinocchio’s nose – Ironies Limerick

    December 6th, 2023

There once was a man quite sly,
Who claimed he could never tell a lie.
    But in life’s great twist,
He was caught in the midst,
Of fibs that reached up to the sky.

  • Quills and Quests | Poem

    December 5th, 2023

    My desk adorned with dreams,
Quills and ink in sunlight gleams.
A life unfolded in storied verse,
    Chasing the elusive poetic universe.

    Pages turned, manuscripts compiled,
Dreams in ink, every thought beguiled.
Yet, the publishers’ doors seemed closed,
As rejection’s sting, my heart lays exposed.

Through valleys of doubt, my pen in hand,
I wove my world of this undiscovered land.
My failed endeavors, led meaning found,
In the solace of words to fertile ground.

No bookshelves bear my crafted lore,
Yet, my soul’s release is forevermore.
For in each line my purpose now unfurls,
A life’s tale spun in the dance of words.

  • Turning Cheek | Poem

    December 4th, 2023

    Preferring the sky’s expansive dome,
I turn away from towers of chrome.
Escape the rush and corporate strife,
I instead embrace the simple life.

In a tiny home where echoes sing,
No more the chaos or incessant bling.
The city’s hum replaced by calm,
A humble haven, within nature’s balm.

    Self-sustainability, my guiding star,
Harvests of earth, not the boardroom’s bar.
    Chickens cluck and garden rows,
We reap the peace the simple life bestows.

No suits, no ties, just open skies,
Where time is measured in heartfelt sighs.
With each sunrise, a new chance to thrive,
    Gentle embrace the simple life.

  • Beyond the Dashboard | Poem

    December 3rd, 2023

In the garage where memories reside,
A faithful steed, well worn with pride.
Through miles and moments, we’ve traveled far,
It’s time, my dear, to bid adieu, my sweet old car.

Your metal heart with its rhythmic beat,
Down winding roads and quiet streets.
You carried dreams and laughter ever sweet,
A vessel of memories, oh so fleet.

Across sunrise drives to sunset hues,
Through storms and traffic we’d never lose.
    More than steel and tire,
My companion in joy and desire.

From first dates to never ending road trips gone long,
Singing our hearts out in song.
    More than a machine,
You witnesses my life’s vast unfolding scenes.

The engine’s hum, a sweet lullaby,
    Chasing horizons under the sky.
    Through breakdowns, fixes, and repair,
These are testaments to our journeys we share.

But now, my friend, the time has come,
To part ways, our adventures now done.
The odometer reads a tale complete,
A journey etched in memories sweet.

In your leather seats, stories are embed,
Of places visited and tears much shed.
As the engine cools, my heart now sighs,
For it’s hard to bid the past goodbye.

Farewell, old friend, with gratitude and grace,
For every mile and every fond embrace.
You were more than a mode of transport,
A relic of moments, love, and support.

In the rearview mirror, reflections gleam,
A montage of memories, like a dream.
As you drive away to a different star,
Thank you, dear car, for being my old car.

  • The Journey of Pursuing Happiness | Poem

    December 2nd, 2023

In the sunburnt land where dreams take flight,
The pursuit of happiness in the morning light,
A journey through the mist, both near and far,
With hope in the heart, like the evening star.

In youth’s bold stride, we choose our jeans,
Best dressed to chase our dreams,
To be rich, to be famous, to stand tall?
A quest for happiness that captures all.

Midlife’s station, the grind of toil,
A battle fought on the sunbaked soil,
For family and kin, the sweat, the strife,
In the rhythm of cycles, the pulse of life.

As elders gaze at the setting sun,
Meaning found in a task well done,
In routine’s embrace, a contented tune,
The joy of moments, beneath the moon.

The pursuit of happiness, a shifting breeze,
Not in the destination but a journey amongst the trees,
A changing beast, as the seasons turn,
Its the dance of life – To find, to love, to learn.

  • Cliffside Contemplation | Poem

    December 1st, 2023

On a rugged cliff a lone man stands,
Gazing across the seas, whose tempest commands.
Dark clouds gather like a brooding host,
Nature’s fury summoned with a storm to boast.

The wind, such a a maestro, conducts the symphony,
Waves rise and fall in chaotic harmony.
    The thunderous applause, frightening might,
Nature’s tempest in an awe-inspiring sight.

The storms within are subtle and sly,
A cyclone of thoughts brewed in the sky.
Emotions are swirling like leaves in the gale,
Our hearts, the vessel of this this inner tale.

Clouds of doubt and lightning of fear,
A storm unseen, yet undeniably near.
The soul, tossed on waves of introspection,
A temptress within, breaking a connection.

Prepare, oh, prepare for the storms ahead,
Strengthen the spirit, seek where courage is bred.
For life’s tempests, both within and without,
Demand resilience and there’s no room for doubt.

  • Troubled Thoughts – a warning to you all!

    November 30th, 2023

    Troubled times breed hard men,

    Hard men fix good times,

    Good times breed soft men,

And Soft men drive troubled times.

This is a cycle as old as life itself, inevitable as taxes and as inescapable as death. This is a truth that has befallen mankind throughout its history.

But are we soon to break the cycle? Decades of advancing technologies has seen standards of living skyrocket around the world. The latest developments in AI threaten the next big shift in society and could break these very chains of repetition!

Troubled times could well be a thing of the past. And yet, what will we be left with?

Soft men, selfish men, and m easy times.

In the age of consumerism every want is at our fingertips. Social wages and universal living standards will ensure all have the basic necessities of modern life. What do we get in return?

As seen in recent weeks the civil world is at war with itself. Extremist hate, violent conflict, preventable shootings and a spiralling mental health crisis are but a few of the news headlines. What more will come when there is little else to achieve for?

There is a peak to which technology helps out mankind, before the benefits it provides cost some our creative freedoms or very souls themselves…

We haven’t reached that point yet, but when we do, we must be very careful not to bite off more than we can chew!

  • Inevitable | Poem

    November 29th, 2023

A tale as old as fall,
Where two constants endure, heed my call.
Death, the silent reaper is ever near,
And taxes burden we all must bear.

Taxes, a levy on sweat and toil,
A duty that wraps the land in coil.

Death, the great equalizer in the end,
A journey from which none can bend.
No wealth can barter, no power withstand,
The fate that awaits every mortal strand.

Yet in the face of these inevitable twins,
A spirit within us brightly begins.
To live with purpose, and face what may,
A path left untrodden, come what say.

So, fear not the taxman, nor death’s cold gaze,
For in the living is our truest blaze.

Seize the moments, both bitter and sweet,
In the tapestry of life, find your seat.
In the final breath, as the curtain falls,
May your heart echo, no regret recalls.
