Glistening Greed | Poem

In the marketplace, where fortunes unfold,
Greed, the relentless seeker, counts its gold.
Avarice, the sly and cunning thief,
In shades of yellow, it hides beneath.

Yellow, the color of sunlit desire,
Greed’s flame, a relentless fire.
It blinds the eyes to the needs of kin,
As wealth accumulates, a soul grows thin.

Coins clinking like deceitful laughter,
Greed’s banquet, a feast that leads to disaster.
A craving insatiable, a bottomless pit,
In the golden glow, humanity may quit.

Yet, in the heart’s ledger, a choice is scribed,
To hoard the gold or let generosity guide.
For in the balance of wealth and need,
True richness transcends the yellowed greed.

Cast off the shackles of avaricious delight,
In the warmth of giving, find true light.
For in the treasury of a heart that’s free,
Yellow becomes the hue of empathy.
